COVID-19 & Your Oral Health

To our patients,

We would like to extend our sympathy and loving thoughts to all who have been impacted by the COVID-19 virus. We realize that this has been a difficult time for many in our community and, we want you to know that we are doing our part to mitigate concerns by adhering to strict sanitization and safety protocols for the security of our patients, our staff, and their families.

What a ride the past few months have been! Who could have anticipated the changes we've seen? Fortunately, it does seem to be letting up as just this week our governor has once again loosened restrictions by allowing nail salons, hair salons, and indoor shopping malls to reopen.

As an essential service, we have been here for you through the entire shutdown. The precautions we've had to take are very similar to how we had cared for you pre-virus and we feel that this is one of the safest places you can be.

On August 12th, the American Dental Association (ADA) President, Dr. Chad P. Gehani, made a statement that, “Millions of patients have safely visited their dentists in the past few months for the full range of dental services. With appropriate PPE, dental care should continue to be delivered during global pandemics or other disaster situations.” He went on to say that, “Oral health is integral to overall health. Dentistry is essential health care,” states Dr. Gehani. “Dentistry is essential health care because of its role in evaluating, diagnosing, preventing or treating oral diseases, which can affect systemic health.”

We echo Dr. Gehani's sentiment that dentistry is essential to our overall health. We have seen an increase in disease even in those that have been normally healthy. Continuing to put off needed preventative and restorative dental care may make your overall health worse. For this reason, we would like to encourage those patients who may have been putting off dental appointments due to COVID-19 to begin rescheduling those appointments.

We will be working hard to get everyone who is overdue for an appointment in as soon as possible. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through these challenging times. If you haven’t heard from us, please give us a call at 805-278-8999 and we will be happy to get you scheduled and answer any questions you might have. We look forward to seeing you soon!
